Schoolhouse Opens for Season on May 25
An open house will be held at the Irondale Schoolhouse on Saturday, May 25. Bee Bee the Clown will entertain children with balloons, puppets, magic and more from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Sunday in the Country Food Drive will offer sliders and hot dogs off the grill. Paintings by Millerton artist Ray Loper will be on display in the building, with 20 percent of the sales from the art show benefiting the schoolhouse.
Enjoy National Children’s Day on June 9
In celebration of National Children’s Day on Sunday, June 9, children are invited to decorate their bicycles and join a parade on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail that culminates at the Irondale Schoolhouse, where free ice cream will be provided by Stewart’s Shops. Prizes will be awarded for the best-decorated bicycles. Parade participants should gather at the parking lot on South Center Street near the Rail Trail at 10:45 a.m. and will ride together to the schoolhouse at 11 a.m., where Jonathan Grusauskas of the Music Cellar will perform children-friendly songs and outdoor games can be enjoyed by all.
